Discover the rich and bold flavour of the Pacific with Aunty Tommy's Koko Samoa Drinking Chocolate Pods. Made with the finest Pacific cocoa beans, and moulded into convenient single serve pods. Our smallest pack is a taste of pure indulgence. Satisfy your cravings with this delicious treat.

*Please note while our koko looks like chocolate, it is 100% dark cacao paste so is bitter to the taste. Only for the brave!

    Size: 70g
    Makes: 7 Serves
    Flavour: Bitter
    Texture: Smooth (No Pegu)

*Koko pods are not coffee capsules. They will not work in Nespresso, Dolce Gusto, K-Cup or any other capsule machine, and putting one in a machine can block or damage it.

    how we brew

    1. Add 1 or 2 pods to a mug and enough boiling water so it just covers the pods.

    2. Stir well to melt the koko into a paste and then add your favourite sweetener (sugar or honey).

    3. Fill the rest of the mug with hot water while continuing to stir. Add milk (optional) and enjoy.

    details

    Weight: 70g
    Makes: 7 Serves
    Flavour: Bitter
    Process: Stone ground
    Texture: Smooth no pegu
    Ingredients: 100% cacao paste

Our koko is untempered which helps it melt faster in your cup. As a result it can develop bloom.

Bloom is when the fat content separates from the koko and rises to the surface. Bloom can often look like a marbled, powdery streaky substance. This is normal in untempered chocolate and is still perfectly safe to consume.

*May contain traces of cocoa husk and cocoa nibs.

    disclosure

Allergens: None. Made in a roastery that handles only cacao.

Natural stimulants: Cacao naturally contains caffeine and theobromine. No caffeine is added. One pod has about 8 mg of caffeine, much less than a typical cup of coffee.

Pregnant or breastfeeding: New Zealand guidance is to keep caffeine under 200 mg a day from all sources. Koko counts toward that total.

Children: Koko contains natural stimulants. Serve young children smaller or weaker cups, and avoid it close to bedtime.

Toxic to dogs and cats: Pure cacao is much stronger than milk chocolate, and a single pod can make a small dog unwell. Store out of reach of pets. If your pet eats any, call your vet straight away.

Kidney health: Cacao is naturally high in oxalate. If you have kidney disease or have been advised to follow a low-oxalate diet, talk to your doctor about how much koko is right for you.

Serve with care: Koko is made with boiling water. Let it cool before giving it to children.

Storage: Keep sealed in a cool, dry place.
